Why Use Straight Razor Blades In Shaving

The use of straight razor blades in shaving is traditional but an excellent way of shaving.  I grew up seeing my father doing it when I was young and now my husband is doing the same.  Nowadays, there are shaving products and gadgets that can help shaving done quickly and easily.  Despite this, a lot of guys still prefer straight razor shaving for several reasons.

For many years, my husband has been sporting a beard until recently when he decided to give in to my request to shave it off.  I have been talking him into totally shaving off his beard because to me, he would look younger without a beard.  I personally think that men with smoothly shaved face look and smell clean and fresh.  Straight razor shaving can give them this look.

Straight razor shaving, if done right, gives the closest shave you can get, leaving your skin so smooth and clean.  Those who are into it could swear by it.  The modern way may be quicker but more expensive and the result is not as excellent as that of straight razor shaving.  Straight razor shaving may need some skills to perfect it but once you get the hang of it, you would stick with it.

It may cost more up front but once you got all the tools, you may never buy another razor for years.  You may need to buy some shaving products which you can find at very affordable costs. With the modern method on the other hand, you would spend a lot on disposable blades or electric razors, which will be more costly in the long run.  Straight razor shaving is also environment-friendly and since you have to do it slow, most men find it relaxing as it is the only time when they need to slow down; otherwise, they would end up hurting themselves.

As long as you pick the best quality straight razor blades and you know how to take care of it, you will be fine.  The most important thing in straight razor shaving is hot water.  For best results, wash your face with soap and hot water; the hotter the water, the better.  Let it penetrate the hair for few minutes before you start shaving.  Check out some shaving products that are good for you but as I said, hot water will do the trick!

This is a sponsored post for The Art of Shaving, however, all the points and views are my own.
